Central Neighborhood Association Meeting Minutes
June 28, 2008

The Central Neighborhood Association held its regular meeting on Saturday June 28, 2008 at 9am at the Porter County Public Library Meeting Room B.

The Meeting was called to order at 9am. Introductions of those in attendance followed.

Minutes of the May meeting were read and approved along with the Treasurer??™s Report.

It was noted that there is $3,286.17 available in the Association??™s Saving Account at First Source Bank.

Discussion on Downtown activities: National Night Out Against Crime, Farmers Market, the Lafayette Square building getting razed and a City Park put in, Movies on Washington Square, the Halloween Trick or Treat Night converting to a 2 day event with a Fall Festival theme.

We began discussion on the values of combining a Block Party and the Triangle Fundraiser. It was agreed that we will get a group of people together to develop this. We reviewed the information Linda Whitton gave to Candace on the development of the Franklin/Calumet triangle.

There was discussion and reporting on the Valparaiso Community Schools and the Community Task Force proposal to the School Board.

Some discussion on the upcoming parade at Will Park for the 4th of July.

Next meeting will have a speaker from the Historic Landmarks Foundation to answer questions on the Washington Street Historic District.

Also, there will be a meeting announced through flyering after the 4th of July. Central and Banta will combine to bring in Craig Phillips to discuss the UDO.
