Cherry Hill Civic Association

Board Meeting on November 30, 2009

Present: 

Tina Sefcik, Ed Tavares, Anita Gongola, Jason Nash, Alicia Castleberry, Brian Bosch, Carolyn Boetcher, Lynn Boetcher.

 

President, Tina Sefick, called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm

 

Old Business

  1. Membership Drive
    1. Very Successful
    2. Alicia Castleberry provided a list of residents still available for membership renewal.
    3. Known changes of paid memberships were made to the list
  2. Food Drive
    1. Very Successful
    2. Residents donated approximately four shopping carts full of food.
    3. An article will be published in local newsletter.
  3. CHCA Newsletter
    1. A quarterly CHCA newsletter needs to be produced.
    2. The first newsletter should span the months of September through November 2009
    3. Suggested articles should include:
      1. Fall garage sale
      2. Food Drive
      3. Membership Drive
      4. Introduction of New Officers
      5. New Sign
  4. 1st Quarter Newsletter
    1. Possible topics include:
      1. Potential project related to utilizing individual resident gas light fixtures
      2. Family bowling night activity
  5. It was determined that Ed Tavares and Brian Bosch will audit the current CHCA Treasury before handing it over to the newly elected treasurer, Anita Gongola.
  6. Committees:  All neighborhood committees are currently adequately represented amongst Board Members and residents.
  7. Santa Mailbox
    1. The Santa mailbox is currently located on Cherry Hill Dr near the West entrance
    2. Ed Tavares stated that approximately 36 letters, representing 29 different families, were received last year.
    3. All children's letters will be answered
  8. Santa Visits
    1. Santa Visits will fall under the responsibility of the CHCA Social Committee
    2. The preferred date for Santa visitation will be Thursday, December 17th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
    3. Visits should be limited to 15 minutes in length
    4. Visitation time should coordinate with the ages and number of kids being visited.
    5. Family members of children being visited are to be informed that they may leave gifts on their front porch prior to the visit for Santa to "give".
    6. Candy canes are needed for Santa to provide.
  9. December General Meeting
    1. It was agreed amongst all members that the December General Meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 16th from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Pickerington Public Library.

 

New Business

AMMENDMENT:  Due to scheduling conflicts w/ the Library, the exact date of the December General Meeting is to be determined.

  1. Holiday Carolling
    1. Alicia Castleberry provided a suggestion for advertising interest in neighborhood holiday caroling sponsored by "Kinder Key Caroling for a Cause".
  2. CHCA Safety Committee
    1. It was suggested that a neighborhood watch program be instigated for Cherry Hill.
  3. Ed Tavares proposed a motion to provide a $200 spending budget for expenses associated with December activities.  Lynn Boetcher seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.
  4. Brian Bosch proposed a motion to provide a $100 spending budget for expenses associated for producing the CHCA directories.  Ed Tavares seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.
  5. Ed Tavares and Jason Nash agreed to be in charge of the CHCA promotional easels used at each entrance to Cherry Hill.
  6. It was determined that items to be included in the newsletter, should be submitted to Ed Tavares by Saturday, December 5th.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm
