Dear Greg:
Over the years there has been a steady increase in the amount of storm drainage carried by the small creeks that run through Chevington Woods. During heavy downpours the water is routinely out of the creek banks. Flood damage has been minimal so far because the most severely affected residents have installed riprap, cross ties and other methods to control the water.
However, it appears residential development has begun in the Palmer Road area just north of Chevington Woods. The land being developed has historically been used for agriculture. The storm water, which is not absorbed by the fields, flows into drainage ditches and eventually into the creek running through a portion of New England Acres and then into Chevington Woods.
The Trustees of the Chevington Woods Civic Association have directed me, as Secretary, to bring this matter to your attention before major flooding becomes an issue in Chevington Woods. It would appear that some, if not all, of the developments would be in Etna Township/Licking County. Thus, it would require some cooperation between those entities and perhaps other government bodies to jointly develop remedies before a serious flooding problem becomes a reality for the affected residents of Chevington Woods.
Accordingly, we would like to extend this invitation for you to attend a meeting of the Trustees of the CWCA and address this issue and other subjects that you feel would be of interest to those present. If you are agreeable to do so, please advise and we can mutually agree upon a meeting a date that is convenient for all concerned.
Yours truly,
Will Snell
