A Parent at the CDC

Apr 16, 2004

Hello.

I'm curious. Did you send the information that the ''teacher'' posted on the discussion board to the IRS? Or are you just like everyone else, blowing smoke. I've heard that so many times that it is laughable. Please don't be offended by that. But honestly, I have heard too many people say that ''something will get done about this''. The situation at Circle C CDC never changes! NOTHING ever gets done. It just gets worse year after year.

There are so many things that this so called teacher was kind enough not to say. Especially about the director and her ''friends'' aka staff members.

Well....I just thought I would ask. All of us parents and even some of the staff members have yet to see something done about the Director and things that have gone on in the center. I bet the other parents would be interested to know that a while back a staff member hosted a party at her home for a ......shall we say.....''sex toy party'', and then had the audacity to have the items shipped to the school. How is that for inappropriate and tacky? What is a child had found that package? Great use of the school. And that was just the beginning of my new found disgust for the center.

But being a part of this community, I know all to well that what is on most parents minds would be the money they are spending. Tuition is outrageous. It continues to go higher and higher, and from what I am told the staff that actually interacts with the children continue to get smaller and smaller raises. Do you know that the staff did not even receive a raise for the year 2001-2002? But boy did the office staff have a blast spending funds for all the summer activities, such as the water slides, and moon jumpers. Wanna hear something even better? The office staff at that time kept the water slide for themselves an extra day so that they could all go on it after hours. I wonder who paid for that? The parents? Besides tuition not covering all these upgrades, that we have yet to see, try adding the pizza charges. Lets do some basic math. One typical full time class has 12 kids on pizza day. Each pays $3 every week. That's $36 a week, over a period of 40 weeks in the school year (because they don't have pizza day during the summer). What is that? About $1440. Well the year that my children were there, my child's teacher told me that their class had been given a $25 certificate to purchase something from the school catalog for their class. Hmmm...where did the rest of the children's money go? Cause from what I hear, they still don't have anything new in that class.

So Ms. Sun, what I am getting at is are you actually going to go to the IRS. Or do you just have nothing better to do than gossip?

Finally, I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, and provide you with any information regarding the center that I might have. I think that it is a shame that we are paying ridiculous amounts of money, and in return our children are not seeing any of it. In one year alone, I paid a little more than $9000 in childcare for just one of my kids. And sadly, all I have to show for it is her FABULOUS art created with the cheapest art supplies. Because we wouldn't want Kerri to go without a top of the line desk for her office. After all, the Directors comfort is our first priority.
