The Circles of Dennison Place - Block Watch

Spring Meeting Minutes - Archived

Thank You!

For those of you who did not attend last night's meeting, you really missed a good one!

For those of you who did make time to attend, Thank You for your participation.

A BIG THANK YOU also to Rebecca and Brian White, who offered their home at the last minute, when the Triozzi home took ill. Get well soon Triozzis!

Neighborhood L ink

The meeting started off with Atanya Brown, City Coordinator for Neighborhood Link, presenting to us the web site Neighborhood Link.com and how we can effectively use it to communicate.

This is particularily important because the lack of time we seem to have in getting together in person to convey information.

Please bookmark the following site:

www.neighborhoodlink.com/columbus/cdpbw

and visit it!

As Atanya explained, this is a free site open for everyone in our neighborhood to post information about different activities taking place in our area. (The site is funded by local corporate sponsorship.)

For instance, if you are planning a garage sale, post it to the Calendar, if you are involved
with a community function (plays, rummage sales, Martha Walker Garden Club, Victorian Village House Tour, etc), post it to the Calendar. If you have lost a pet, post it ... where? ... to the Talk About It Section. (You thought I was going to type "calendar" didn't you?)

The Talk About It section is an area for discussion lists. This way we can have conversations about different issues in our neighborhood without having to play phone tag or try to meet up with neighbors in passing.

One note on the Neighborhood Link web site: At this time it does not have a secure server i.e. not password protected --This is coming in summer -- for this reason, I am not going
to put the Neighborhood Contact List on the web site. When the secure server is active, we
can place this information on the web site and control who looks at it (those of us in the
Block Watch).

Spring Clean Up Day

Those of us who attended the meeting last night had an easy time of deciding upon a date for the Spring Clean Up - Saturday, May 6th 8am-12pm. (RAIN DATE: Sunday, May 7th, 1-4pm). Hope the rest of you can accomodate this date! We will meet at the Circle on West Seventh and Michigan.

May 6th will enable us to have the flower beds prepared for the Martha Walker Garden Club's gift
of the flats of annuals to be planted. The annuals should be delivered Friday, May 12th. Please contact Suzanne Escovitz if you would like to help plant these annuals in a Circle.

Last year, the children of the neighborhood organized a lemonade stand. Parents - if your kids would like to do this again this year, please contact me.
