Scam Artists Active in Our Area

From Community Liaison Officer Smith:

Received info on 3-7-00 that a female white in her mid 30's, brown hair, 5-7 140#, possibly going by the name of Marilyn Reese, has been scamming elderly residents of Victorian Village area. One such incident has occurred in the 600 block of Dennison Ave., where the above subject stated she knew the victims neighbor, and that she needed money to get to New York to see her daughter who was dying from being hit by a drunk driver. This story continues and the suspect ultimately revisits the victim for more money. In The incidents described above, the suspect is allowed into the victims House.

What to Do

The bottom line is don't let strangers in your house. Don't give money to people off of the street (in the case above, the victim thought he was just lending money to a person in need-who in fact stole other valuables from the victims home, as well as scamming him out of about $300.00.
