Cobblestone Village Homeowners Association

Would you like to be a board member? (Updated 06-14-2008)

Jun 14, 2008

Are you interested in being a board member of the Cobblestone Village Board of Directors?
First, a little about our association. Our association is made up of the both the 209 homes as well as the common area. The common area includes the pool, all of the grassy areas around Cobblestone and its parking lot.

Cobblestone Village is not an apartment complex where we all pay rent and someone else does all of the work for us. It is an association of individuals and a community of residents with a common interest. That common interest is to maintain the highest quality of life for all residents. With that in mind, we are all responsible for our community. Lastly, Cobblestone Village is a non-profit business with the board being its governing body.
Our board is responsible for all common areas of Cobblestone Village as well as the exterior maintenance of the buildings. The day to day activities are managed by our management company but the board has the responsibility and directs the management company. The board approves all contracts for the association, including landscaping, pool maintenance, parking lot repairs and many others. The board, inconjuction with the Architectural Review Committee, approves all homeowner requests for exterior changes, such as new windows or doors and so on. The ARC/board may get advice from experts, such as groundskeepers or other contractors but ultimately must make the decisions.

Being a Board Member can be an interesting way to learn about and participate in the management of our community. However, it does require some committments. First, each board member is elected for a three year term. At a minimum, this means one board meeting a month for 2 or more hours with some time before the meeting to read and study the board packet before hand. Sometimes, there are extra meetings for special
purposes. The board is made up of five individuals elected from the community. The board must work together to accomplish the running of this business known as Cobblestone Village. Sometimes, there will be disagreements, but all in all, the board must work together. Once a decision is made, the decision must be supported by all board members.

Each year, one or two board members terms are up. They have the option of running again if they desire. If a board member resigns during his or her term, the remaining board members can appoint someone to fill the remainder of the term.
Qualifications: Board Members must be owners, listed on the title of their home, and in good standing with the association - therefore up to date in their assessments.
If you have any questions about being a board member, please send me an email or come to a board meeting.

06-14-2008 During the Annual Meeting, August 23rd, the homeowners will elect two board members. Judy and Glenda are up for re-election if they choose to run again. If you are interested in running, please contact a board
member or Brenda at Pennant.
