Attention Seniors
The North East Senior Citizen Resource Center, Inc. (NESCRC) may be able to help you! The NESCRC runs the Handy Works chore program which provides workers on a sliding fee scale to do lawn mowing, raking, snow shoveling, housecleaning, etc. for seniors and those that are disabled. The NESCRC also runs the Volunteer Transportation program that provides volunteer drivers to give rides to medical appointments, shopping trips, etc. They ask that you give them a week?’s notice to allow for them to arrange their schedule. There is a suggested donation of 3-5$ per roundtrip ride, but no one will be refused a ride for the inability to pay. The NESCRC has many other programs for seniors including skills training for employment, a community health program, and an adopt a child/grandparent program to help small children learn basic education skills. Please give them a call at 612-781-5096. The NESCRC also offers guidance for seniors and their families through the complex Medicaid, Medicare, and supplemental insurance programs. Also, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to help these valuable programs continue. In addition, the NESCRC is always looking for volunteers to help with Volunteer Transportation services and The Handy Works chore program. You can also find out more information at
