HI!
Happy Spring!
This is the time of each when renewal is in the air. Everything has been dormant and is now ready to spring back with lush greenness and warm breezes. Just coincidentally, we have a couple of activities that take advantage of the season.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be held April 3, at 9:30 a.m., in W. Laurel Ave. Park. This is a fun annual event where the kids get to have a lot of vigorous activity and the bigger "kids" get to try to pilfer what they can as payment for being the hunt volunteers. Please bring your children and have a great time. Whatever the weather brings, it will not dampen the activities.
Among the comments we get each year, in dues' renewals, are many characterizing how nice and neat our neighborhood appears. One reason for this is CleanUp Day. This April 17 is your chance to give back to the area. A couple of hours is a small amount of time to give, working with your neighbors, to get the big rewards of a neat well-kept area. Meet at the playground on the corner of Elmhurst Ave. and Elmhurst Dr. The usual agenda is cleaning up of park areas, including some painting and repairs. Foothills provides the materials and arranges to have debris hauled away. Refreshments will be provided. The date is April 17, 9:30 a.m. with April 24, as the rain date.
On a more somber note, we have had some problems in and around our area with someone approaching children on the way to and from school. Please allot some time to be out and about when the kids are on their way. I know some parents walk or drive their kids to the school bus and wait until they are safely aboard. The problem appears to be the kids who walk to and from middle school. If you generally go for a walk each day, try to arrange it so you can be on the paths or streets during the time the kids are walking to or from school. Be sure your children are aware of safety precautions they can take and make them aware that there are "odd balls" out there.
Please read the reports from committees in other parts of The Scroll. Many of your comments have been addressed in these reports. The minutes will also give you a flavor of discussions at board meetings.
The board meets each second Thursday year round and welcomes your participation. We are always willing to hear your thoughts about what we are working on or what concerns you if it is not a current agenda item. We meet in the Saint Frances Cabrini Church at 7:00 p.m. at S. Pierce at Chatfield. Please attend, as all are welcome.
We post timely information at our web site which is available for your perusal at any time. The company providing this service has recently upgraded its capabilities. Free home pages are available for your use. The Judds were the first neighbors to take advantage of the service and they have a very nice message for all. Space has been expanded for The Scroll and we have been posting articles there. We use the discussion area for timely updates on items which change between publication dates. Monthly activities and meeting dates are also posted. Other important information is available, including links to other areas of interest. You can go directly to the site http//www.ecentral.com, then click on Neighborhood Links and type in our Zip Code (80128), which will take you directly to our information. You may also contact me by fax or e-mail at cdunias@ecentral.com. Be sure to read the other reports and the minutes for more details.
SEE YA!
