Conifer Hall Subdivision

Vol. 2 2008

May 01, 2008

Giving Thanks:
Thank you to all 27 households in Conifer Hall that took the time to show up to our second meeting, especially Sgt. Jackson who informed us about the Neighborhood Crime Watch program! Thank you also to the Pruitt?’s who allowed our meeting to be held at the VFW and to Jack and Misty Cook who fixed our subdivision sign! To those people who did not attend but would like to be updated, please read below for a brief list of topics discussed by those who showed up:

1. We reviewed briefly the topics brought up at the previous meeting that will be brought up again after we solve one problem at a time. The issue we voted to focus on first is crime and safety.

2. Sgt. Jackson was introduced and spoke about:
-Last attempt for crime watch in Conifer Hall was 2006, and was unsuccessful due to lack of support from residents.

-Mentioned need for:
-Attending County Counsel Meetings:
Held 3rd Monday of every month 6pm at the County Building on Hwy 52. Please go voice your concerns- possible youth recreation area etc.
-Gang identification awareness
-Drug awareness
-Reporting all unusual or suspicious activity to create a paper trail. Officers may not have a case with probable cause without citizen tips on file

-Phone numbers mentioned:
Police Dispatch- 719-4505
Officer of The Day- 719-4412 (report anything missing/or
suspicious activity)
Drug tip line- 719-4692 (leave a message about
suspicious drug activity)

-Safety Tips:
-Report all suspicious activity (Ex: if neighbor is out and someone is burglarizing, call when in progress not at the end when police cannot do anything about it).
-ID your possessions with last 4 numbers of Soc. by engraving or invisible ink.
-Install the ?“Door Club?” in your home on any door that opens inward. Available for $10
through the Sheriff?’s Department IF WE HAVE AN ORDER OF 25+.
-Replace sliding glass door screws with 1 1/2?” screws to prevent removal of door.
-In an emergency, use the panic button on your car remote to alert neighbors of a problem
in progress.

*Most important statement: Neighborhood Watch signs are not enough to make our neighborhood safe- we must have neighbors actually watching and participating.*

3. Volunteering for block captain duties for communication purposes established for all streets except Juniper Court and Sapling Court. Please help if you can. Official duties beyond communicating have not been established at this time.

4. Agreement from present residents resulted in potential meetings to be held the last Tuesday of every month beginning May 27, 2008. (Will be confirmed once The Pruitts?’ approve our use of the VFW on a regular basis.)

Anyone registered on this website can post articles but please be polite, respectful and appropriate.

Time and date of next meeting: Tuesday, May 27, 2008 7:00pm (last Tuesday of every month)

Next meeting will include voting for offices. Please attend so that you are aware of who is voted in to position of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary. (Community Relations Representative, and other committees such as membership, publicity/ fundraising, beautification, etc. should be voted on as well) Names of candidates will be submitted at beginning of meeting. Each nomination will be introduced and all present members will vote. We will also have a vote for how much dues will be so that we can afford neighborhood watch signs.

*Does anyone know where the neighborhood meeting signs went? Please return them if you have them- no questions asked. Thanks.*
