If you would like to learn more about the state legislative process and how it affects neighborhoods, attend the Neighborhood Lobbying Workshop 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Burton Barr Central Library Pulliam Auditorium, 1221 N. Central Ave.
The workshop will present topics such as how a bill becomes law, how these laws impact neighborhoods and how the new legislative districts will look in 2002 once the statewide redistricting project is approved. Professional lobbyists also will be on hand with tips for getting the attention of lawmakers and promoting individual and neighborhood issues at the State Capitol. In addition, several state lawmakers will attend the event to give their perspective and answer
questions.
The free event is sponsored by the city of Phoenix Intergovernmental Programs Office to involve residents in the legislative process and educate the public about the importance of constituent input in shaping the future of communities around the state.
To register for the workshop or request disability accommodations or materials in alternate formats, call 602-256-4257/voice or 602-534-5500/TTY by Nov. 27.
