NPO Officer Rumatz is our very active NPO.

Our neighborhood Officer is very experienced

Officer Rumatz has been our NPO for 3 years.He is a former marine, a dad and an officer with 10 years experience with the neighborhood police unit.
NPO Rumatz has extensive experience in problem solving police work..He has extensive expertise in dealing with abatement proceedings in problem areas.He is a bicycle unit instructor and also teaches in the GPD basic academy. We are fortunate to have these skills brought to our neighborhood.He was commended for his work on his previous neighborhood.
Officer Rumatz asks that we email him at Rumatz@ci.garland.tx.us with any public safety issues. The office phone, for those how are not using a computer , is 972 485 4896. Email however, helps to document and track the information and is quicker then checking phone messages. He covers district 13 , a very large area, and appreciates tips on houses or activites that need attention.He has and will continue to monitor the park on his days in our area.The NPO unit also does special assignments throughout the city to target high crime incidents.In the summer of 08 he and the NPO unit have arrested several persons who seem to be responsible for many vehicle break -ins in our area and arrested several neighborhood residents..They also worked to close the Sports Bar due to illegal fights and other activities.
Remember that we need to call 911, not our NPO, at the time a suspicious person, event, car or other is happening.He will pick up the stats of our area and you may email tips or chronic problem issues.
In Sept of 08 our officer with another NPO arrested several burglars that hit around town and in our area.

In 09 we need to credit the NPO unit for closing the sports bar- turns out they were having illegal fights, betting and other illicit transactions.This summer and fall, NPO Rumatz had worked on a procedure for some months to allow for citizen witness for testimony to court cases over some of the poor behavior on the streets around our park - as well as in the park.
