Crawfordsville/Montgomery County is home to four museums:
1. Ben-Hur Museum, which was General Lee Wallace's personal study/library. Most of the book "Ben-Hur" was written on the grounds of the museum. The study contains memorabilia collected throughout Wallace's lifetime and much more.
2. Lane Place Antebellum Mansion, was the home of Henry S. Lane, founder of the Republican Party in the state of Indiana and was instrumental in getting Abraham Lincoln nominated for the Presidency. Lane was an honorary pallbearer at Lincoln's funeral.
3. Linden Depot Museum is an early 1900's depot transformed to house railroad material from the Monon and Nickel Plate railroads.
4. Old Jail Museum, the only operational rotary jail in the United States. The jail was built in 1882 and used as a jail by the county until 1973. In 1975 it was turned into a museum, using the sheriff's residence for local art and history exhibits and showing off the uniqueness of the rotary cellblock.


Montgomery County is home to Shades State Park, Pine Hills Nature Preserve, two covered bridges, three golf courses, 8 motels and 7 Bed & Breakfasts.

The second weekend of June each year Lane Place is home to the Annual Strawberry Festival. The festival runs Friday, Saturday & Sunday with over 80 craft booths and numerous food booths. There is a large children's area with games and other fun activities.
