Fall Gardening Tips

Nov 30, 2004

For Oklahoma Gardeners fall means it?’s time to plant pansies and spring blooming bulbs. Pansies provide a bright spot of color for the fall and will usually survive the winter to bloom again in early spring. Plant and feed spring blooming bulbs such as tulips, daffodils, crocus and jonquils for a colorful spring yard. Other fall gardening tips:

* Fall is a great time to feed your roses. They will store the food and come out strong in the spring.

* Let the fallen leaves stay in your flower beds throughout the winter to feed the soil.

* Don?’t toss out those hay bales you bought for Halloween Decorations! You can spread the hay over areas where you want to kill out unwanted plant growth.

* Move your geraniums to the garage. There?’s a great chance they?’ll survive the winter there and can bloom again.
