Bird Watching in Crestwood

Dec 12, 2004

Fall and Winter are migratory time for many species of birds that can be found in Crestwood's back yards. Beginning in late October residents can be on the look-our for Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Harris Sparrows, White Crowned Sparrows and Eastern Towhee's. Of course, we always have our year-round residents which include Cardinals, Mockingbirds, Robins and Finches.

To help our winter residents be sure to keep bird baths full of fresh, un-frozen water. Birds almost never freeze to death, but winter can be a thirsty time. Cat owners are encouraged to keep their pets indoors during the migratory.

The Harris Sparrow (above photo) is one of the many birds you can see in Crestwood this fall and winter.
