One of the greatest assets of the Crestwood Neighborhood is our fantastic neighborhood elementary school. Cleveland Elementary School. Cleveland Elementary is considered a ?“school of excellence?” and, according to schoolreportcard.com, ranks above the state average in reading, math, writing, science and social studies.
This year Cleveland Elementary welcomes a new Principal, Dr. Mary Coughlin. Dr. Coughlin has spent her entire career of 30 years as an educator in Oklahoma. Both Sooners and Cowboys will be pleased to learn that Dr. Coughlin holds degrees from both of the major state universities.
Dr. Coughlin was drawn to Cleveland by both its small size and its stellar reputation, ?“The kids are wonderful. The staff is excellent. They are some of the best teachers I?’ve ever seen. It?’s an incredible school.?”
In addition to bragging on the faculty, staff and students, Dr. Coughlin also has some nice things to say about the parents of her students, ?“The parent involvement is a step above typical schools.?” Dr. Coughlin mentioned that the first PTA meeting of the school year brought about 120 parents. According to Dr. Coughlin Cleveland has, "a parent community that sees what needs to be done and is willing to do it."
Dr. Coughlin welcomes all of the 'Cleveland Parents' to stop by the school and see what's happening. "Please come visit your child's classroom," she encourages. That's what makes a school successful".
