Please get out with your family and Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Dr. King.


- The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis • Monday, January 20, 2020 • Stories about courageous children from civil rights movement. • Music from The Griot Drum Ensemble and the Freetown Village Singers

- Indiana Historical Society • Monday, January 20th, 2020 • Free admission provides access to IHS’s award-winning Indiana Experience, including its newest exhibit, You Are There 1915: Madam C.J. Walker, Empowering Women. • Guests can learn about civil rights prior to Dr. King’s time when Susan Hall Dotson, IHS coordinator for African American History, leads a discussion about Madam C.J. Walker’s activism. • Griot Drum Ensemble returns with its high-energy Africaninfluenced drumming, dancing and storytelling. • Homelessness service day where families can help pack supplies and learn about homelessness.

- Rhythm Discovery Center • Monday, January 20th, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. • Enjoy the galleries and find your own rhythm. • Free admission to the Rhythm Discovery Center.

- Free MLK Day Museum Admission at White River State Park Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art • Monday, January 20, 2020 • Please bring a non perishable food item to donate for Gleaners Food Bank

- Indiana State Museum • Monday, January 20, 2020, 10 am – 5 pm. • Please bring a non perishable food item to donate for Gleaners Food Bank. • Highlights from King speeches will be featured throughout the day. • Human rights activities • Dream mural • Little ones can visit the new preschool and toddler area, Firefly Landing.

- NCAA Hall of Fame • Monday, January 20, 2020. • Please bring a non perishable food item to donate for Gleaners Food Bank

- The Indianapolis Zoo at White River State Park • Monday, January 20, 2020, 9 am – 4 pm. • Please bring a non perishable food item to donate for Gleaners Food Bank • See some of the animals including sea lions, tigers, walrus, brown bears and others. • Duck in to the indoor exhibits; Oceans, Dolphin Dome, Deserts Dome, Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center and Hilbert Conservatory. • Watch the Dolphin Show

- Free Museum Admission in Hamilton County Conner Prairie • Monday, January 20, 2020. • Experience Freedom Summer: 1964 • Enjoy the indoor areas; Makesmith Workshop and Discovery Station.

- 2020 Dr. King Day of Service at Watkins Park • Monday, January 20, 2020, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. • Volunteers are invited to help with various indoor and outdoor projects to support the Watkins Park Family Center, and the neighborhoods along Edgemont Ave. • Free, all ages event. • Watkins Family Park, 2360 Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Street, Indianapolis, IN

MLK Day Self-guided Hike at Eagle Creek Park • Test your knowledge on a self-guided MLK Day Hike. Pick up a quiz at the Earth Discovery Center and head out for an easy ½ mile hike to see if you can discover the answers. • Enjoy the peace of the forest in winter as you read some of Martin Luther King’s many memorable words and learn about his life and legacy. • Free. - MLK Day Celebration at Garfield Park Indianapolis • Meet at the Garfield Park Arts Center to learn more about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. • Create a craft in the art room. • This is a free, all ages event. • 2432 Conservatory Dr, Indianapolis, IN 

Kennedy King Park Center MLK Event • Free, all ages event. • Celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by helping others through a Day of Service at the Kennedy King Park Center, located in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. • Watch video of the historic speech delivered in Indianapolis on April 4, 1968, hear from someone who was in the park during that speech. • Participate in a “Love and Peace” art project, and assemble Street Outreach Survival Kits on behalf of Horizon House. • Kennedy King Park Center, 601 E. 17th Street, Indianapolis, IN
