Annual Meeting Minutes 2007

Meeting 05-02-07

Meeting was opened and chaired by Trustee Mark Sell.
In attendance were:

Also joining the meeting were Ballwin Mayor Walter Young and Ballwin Alderman Tim Pogue

Pond
Initial discussion of old business began with the pond aeration project.
Steve Koetting talked about the problems of figuring out which system is best for our pond, and is cost effective. He also relayed problems getting electrical contractor bids that were consistent, and gathering unbiased information regarding our needs from pond management companies. Koetting said we would go ahead and have the electric installed as soon as acceptable bids come in. Ron Jostes suggested that we should decide the entire details of the project before installing the electric to verify placement and other options that may change. It was agreed to iron out details before installing the electric. Vida Reid asked about noise from a pump. Discussion followed regarding aeration systems and options. Alderman Tim Pogue suggested contacting the Dept. of Conservation to obtain unbiased information about controlling water quality in a pond.

Geese
Next the discussion turned toward the geese population and our efforts to reduce them. The neighborhood has been involved with Geesepeace to prevent geese from reproducing and making permanent homes on our property. Steve Gannon and Paul Merkel have been involved in egg destruction and harassment of the geese using dogs. Each year the neighborhood obtains a permit from the Conservation department to destroy eggs. It was agreed the project is working, and the geese population is much more tolerable.


Pool
Mark Sell opened the discussion of the pool and related issues. Last fall a pool cover was purchased. Sell relayed the benefits we should enjoy this spring when the pool is opened from having a cover. Sell then discussed the pool committee and how it works. We have a couple new additions to the committee for this summer. It was requested than any other residents who are interested in getting paid to help maintain the pool should contact the committee. Next we discussed the fence around the pool. Koetting said that although a new fence was under consideration, at this time it was too cost prohibitive and we are looking at options for upgrading the current fence instead of doing a complete replacement. It was mentioned that there are other priorities ahead of the fence project, specifically the pond, but it was still on the list for future expenditures.

Financials
Financial reports were handed out and Koetting discussed last year’s income and expenditures. A question was asked regarding income from pool memberships to Brushcreek residents. Tim Kostello asked about our insurance and liability of accepting such memberships to non-residents. Koetting agreed to call our insurance company because the membership fee implies a contract that we might not be insured for.


New Business
Jostes suggested that the financial reports and meeting minutes be sent to every household to help communicate subdivision business and possibly spur interest and involvement from other homeowners.
Gannon suggested that the subdivision should purchase and post a sign at the entrances of the neighborhood prior to the annual meeting to help remind homeowners and increase attendance. (similar to the Clean-up Day signs)
Koetting asked the audience if they felt concerned about the traffic cut-through in the neighborhood and the speed of cars on Stoddards Mill. Erwin said Spragues Mill also has a problem with speeding cars. Most agreed it was a serious enough problem that the Trustees should put pressure on the Ballwin Police to do more enforcement before a child gets hit by a car. Mayor Young and Alderman Pogue gave suggestions for getting the police involved.
Vida Reid asked about the lake sign. Koetting said he could not find a sign maker that would duplicate the top board that was rotten for less than $500. Kostello said if a new board was stenciled, he believed he could route out the letters to make a replacement.

Elections
Steve Gannon was nominated for Trustee to fill Matt Harrison position whose term is over. Gannon accepted the nomination and was voted onto the Board of Trustees unopposed.
