Crime Prevention Strategies
We need your help. In the past, police officers responded to crimes after they had already been committed. Now we want your help in preventing crimes before they occur. We need everyone in our community to take an active role in learning how to stop a crime before it happens. One way you can take an active role in solving and preventing crime is by using the Metro Police’s tip line, 574-LMPD.
When walking to or from your place of employment or your car there are always certain things you can do to keep yourself safe from a possible mugging. Keep at least one hand free at all times. Have keys ready before arriving at your destination. Be alert! Walk with a purpose and visually scan ahead for anything or anyone who appears suspicious. Whenever possible, walk in pairs or groups. Don’t overload yourself with unnecessary items. Avoid keeping cash with ID’s and credit cards. Also leave all unnecessary credit cards at home in a secure location. By following these tips you will make yourself an unattractive target for would be muggers.
