Rebekah Zahn, Executive Director of Neighborhood Alliance was the guest speaker at the May 1, 2003 neighborhood association meeting. Rebekah discussed with neighbors reasons why to have a Neighborhood Watch Program.
First off, neighbors need to know that a Neighborhood Watch Program is just that...teaching neighbors to be observant of their surroundings and if they see something or someone that they are not accustomed to seeing, they need to call 911 and report it to the Police Department.
Neighborhood Watch Programs, teach us how to take the opportunity away from thieves and criminals. An active neighborhood association is the #1 deterrent to crime. By keeping our Denniston Park Directory updated, concerned neighbors can contact each other if they notice suspicious activity as well as notifying the Police Department.
