Welcome to our second Denniston Park newsletter!! The newsletter committee hopes you enjoy our second newsletter as much as we heard you did the first.
Due to wet weather we had to cancel our Fall Picnic in October. We are planning a picnic in April that we will notify you of in the March newsletter. If you would like to help us plan the event, please contact Susan Johnston at cardrdj@aol.com or 946-0248 or Dorothy Antwine at DorothyAntwine@msn.com or 943-6229.
Our next regular association meeting will be held Thursday, January 2, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at the Northwest Baptist Church Youth Annex on NW 21st and Drexel. This meeting will have Mr. Viran Chandra from the Oklahoma City Traffic Department. In October, our Traffic Committee, met with Mr. Chandra to ask the City to do another traffic study of some of our Denniston Park streets. Included in the traffic study request was to install a three way stop at Drexel and Denniston Drive, to change the traffic flow and rate of speed near the park, a four way stop at N.W. 25th and Independence, a four way stop at N.W. 27th and Woodward and a traffic flow study on N.W. 24th Street between Drexel and Brookline. This particular area is a cut through for people wanting to avoid traffic signals at 23rd and Drexel and 23rd and May. The neighbors on 24th street would like a deterrent of some sort to keep this street from being so convenient as a cut through. The traffic study completed in 2001 resulted in changes to six intersections in our neighborhood.
Other items to be discussed will be updates from the Park Committee and the landscape project at the Denniston Park sign, Adopt-A-Park update, and I-44 Sound Barrier update.
So mark your calendar for Thursday, January 2, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. and come join us at our regular monthly neighborhood association meeting!!
