The Denniston Park Park Committee met in October and in November. It was decided to plan and implement a flowerbed around the Denniston Park sign on the corner of Drexel and Denniston Drive.
In September, the Trolley Track Coalition invited the neighborhood to participate in their median and park beautification program. This project in Denniston Park will be to install period lighting around the perimeter of the park and by the new playground equipment.
The Park Committee also decided to participate in another year of OKC Beautiful?’s Adopt-A-Park program. The neighborhood will be increasing their adoption to include landscaping. Many thanks go out to the neighbors who are currently picking up trash weekly in the park. They are:
Week 1 Matt McNeil and Paul Paris
Week 2 Bob and Ralph Severson
Week 3 John and Fong Jordan
Week 4 Walter Shields and Leann Morrow
Tony Hargis, Don and Susan Johnston are alternates and are used as need.
Future plans are to create a Park Master Plan which will include additional tables and benches, decorative trash containers, a tree replacement plan and additional landscaping.
This project will need as many neighbors as possible in order to make it a successful project. We will need people who like to plan, people who like to write grants, people who like to plant and mulch, people who like to prune, and people who like to do maintenance after the project is planted to keep the project looking great! We will need people who like to provide refreshments and people to possibly watch young children whose parents want to participate.
All ages of volunteers are desired for this project!! Kids, elderly neighbors, EVERYONE!
