DSNA April 24, 2003 Meeting Minutes

DSNA Quarterly Meeting

Meeting was called to order by President Cecile Carson.

Neighbors were welcomed and asked to introduce themselves.

Presentation from the Texas Department of Transportation. Buzz Elsom, Denton County Resident Engineer shared information on the widening plans for I-35. Representatives from TX DOT reviewed progress on studies being done for IH 35E improvements. TX DOT has a home page with links to information regarding public hearings. Members asked questions and were advised to watch for public meeting notices in the Summer.

Minutes of the January 2003 meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer Report:
Vern Bassett reported a balance of $1,645.28. We now have free checking at Wells Fargo.

OLD BUSINESS
John Siegmund reported the nominating committee proposed the present officers serve another year. The committee also recommended adding another officer, Vice President of Membership, and proposed that Bonnie Bassett be nominated for this position. Since the new position will require an amendment to the by-laws, the nominating committee recommended that issue be presented at the July meeting and the position be considered an interim one until the amendment is approved. All accepted.

The slate of officers approved by the membership is:

President-Cecile Carson
Vice President of Operations-Richard Huckabee
Interim Vice President of Membership-Bonnie Bassett
Treasurer-Vern Bassett
Secretary-Barbara Pyke


NEW BUSINESS
Officers will discuss spending $20 per year for an Internet address.

Questionnaires were passed out asking for opinions regarding next year’s agenda.

A motion was made, seconded, and approved to spend $180 for a Denton Southridge Neighborhood Association banner to use at Adopt-A-Spot and other activities.

Candidates for City Council Jesse Martin and Perry McNeill participated in a forum regarding the upcoming election.

Next meeting is July 24th at 7:00PM, Southmont Baptist Church.
