Saturday, April 2, 2005, a small but enthusiastic group met at Lochwood Park to enjoy Starbucks coffee, donuts, and enthusiasm for the challenge.
Many neighborhood walkers frequently pick up trash as they stroll and enjoy the scenery. That is greatly needed and appreciated. Our group went along the edges and into the creeks to recover trash that had drifted in, objects that had been tossed, and unmentionables that should not have been there.
Plastic bags, gloves, and long handled grabbers were provided to make the job easier than ever before. We just wish that there were not a need to clean, but we will do it again.
Many thanks to all that participated and to those that will return in a few months to meet the challenge. They certainly hope that next time there will be others to also volunteer.
All left having enjoyed the opportunity to serve and to share with others their stories about what was really at the bottom of the creeks.
