March 6 Community Meeting Huge Success!

On Monday March 6, 2006, over 300 neighbors gathered together at Rancho Del Mar Park at 6:30pm. Neighbors came from Dobson Woods, Rancho Del Mar, and Marlborough Acres to the Community Meeting that was coordinated by the Mesa Police Department. Several police officers were present to address concerns regarding the February 19 drive-by shooting incident which took place on the 1000 W. block of Naranja, and the February 27 stabbing incident which took place near Rancho Del Mar Park. (More detailed information regarding these particular incidents will be included in an upcoming newsletter).
As a positive result of the otherwise unfortunate incidents, Neighbors and Police are teaming up! The Mesa Police Department have pledged to increase their patrols of this neighborhood. They have dramatically increased their responsiveness to issues that neighbors call to their attention. Neighbors have increased their diligence in reporting irresponsible, illegal, suspicious, and violent behavior. Neighbors have worked together to paint over graffiti. Nearly 20 new blockwatch captains in Dobson Woods alone have been recruited over the past week! This is a neighborhood ready to reclaim its tranquility. The socially irresponsible, reckless, and violent behavior of the few will no longer be tolerated!
