New Parking Meter Rate Increases!

Our project implementing new parking meter rates and hours is now moving into Council District 8, and so I wanted to share our plans with you and ask for your help in getting the word out. 

The new rates approved by the Council in July are $1.00 per hour for all of the Parking Meter Zones (PMZs) in CD 8.  The new hours of operation for on-street meters in CD 8 are generally being extended to 8:00 PM Monday through Saturday as approved as part of this Fiscal Year's Budget.  In the off-street lots, the hours will be 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily and the rates will be $1.00 per hour and $4.00 for 10 hours as approved by the Board of Transportation Commissioners in July.

Today, we began changing the rates and hours in the Leimert Park and Crenshaw-Slauson PMZs.  Although the new hours are being shown on the meters, we will also be installing new time limit signs on the street with matching hours over the next month or so.  As a courtesy, the extended meter hours will not be enforced until the meters and time limit signs match.  The two large Leimert Park lots will be changed tomorrow, along with matching signs on the same day.

On Tuesday, December 16th we are scheduled to activate the on-street pay stations on Jefferson Blvd. and Figueroa Street adjacent to USC.  A separate e-mail with more detail will be sent to you next week by Richard Chu, the lead project engineer.  If you have an appropriate contact at USC that you could provide to us, we will make sure and discuss the upcoming changes with them.

Attached please find the full CD 8 schedules for meter rates and hours changes for both on-street and in the lots.  The dates are subject to change, but should be pretty close.  I have also included a map of the CD 8 PMZs for your reference.

I would appreciate your help in communicating this information to your Neighborhood Councils and business associations, so that they have notice of our progress and plans.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
