Crime Stoppers - A Brief Description

Crime Stoppers is a community program geared toward public involvement in the fight against crime. It offers cash rewards up to $1,000 and anonymity to citizens who provide information.

Most of the information received by Crime Stoppers is via the telephone. Two easy-to-remember numbers, (436-STOP and 1-800-237-STOP) were set up for Crime Stoppers. Both numbers are manned by the Greater Fort Wayne Crime Stoppers staff.

Each week, an unsolved crime is selected as the crime of the week. The facts are broadcast on television and radio, and printed in various newspapers. All participation by the media is voluntary and generously donated to the program.

If a caller's information results in the arrest and indictment of an offender or the apprehension of a wanted person, the caller will be contacted through a special call back system and arrangements made so that the person can receive his reward in CASH and preserve his anonymity.

Hot Car 50 - Car Theft Reporting - Earn A Quick $50 Reward

Car theft is a fast growing property crime in the Fort Wayne area. Now, through the cooperation of local television and radio stations, the police will have over 5,000 pairs of eyes looking for stolen cars. Each day, the television and radio stations will broadcast a stolen car report.

If you spot this vehicle, you can call Crime Stopers at 436-STOP or 1-800-237-STOP or *50 for Centennial-One subscribers.

If that vehicle is recovered, you will receive a Quick $50.
