Persistence pays off! After long months of working closely with Codes to address the problem of the abandoned townhouses on Gear Street, there is good news to report. The property has recently been sold. The two vacant lots were sold to a builder, and the bank that now owns the two lots with the townhouses is currently looking for a contractor. The high grass around the buildings has been cut and we should see more action soon. Neighborhood Association representatives will continue to monitor the situation and try to work with the new owners and Codes to ensure that the properties are developed and maintained in a responsible way. Many thanks to all those who have helped with this effort. Together we CAN make a difference!
(*Note: Many apologies to any of those who showed up at the May 5th hearing publicized in the last newsletter. The Sheriff?’s Dept. did not serve the warrant in time for the case to make the docket for that date.)
