Parents of children in East Nashville will have a new public school choice starting this fall. Lockland Design Center, a new optional elementary (K-4th grade) school with a literature focus, will open its doors this August. The school is located at 105 S. 17th St. in nearby Lockland Springs. Special features will include extra, creative literature lessons woven into the curriculum and daily Spanish instruction. Also, the school will feed directly into East Literature Magnet School, so Lockland students will automatically be able to attend East Literature in 5th grade. Because this new school is not yet full for the upcoming school year, students are still currently being accepted. To apply, contact or stop by the Metro Schools Magnet School Office as soon as possible. The Magnet School Office is located on the 3rd floor of the Metro Schools Administration Building at 2601 Bransford Ave.
