We all know about 9-1-1 for calling for assistance in an emergency. Reverse 9-1-1 calling allows the police or others in authority go get emergency messages to a large number of people via telephone. This system was utilized two weeks ago to alert this area of Forest Hills to the rash of burglaries committed just that day. But you need to be registered for this service.

A common question associated with this service is, "Can I sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 using a cell phone as my contact number?" And the answer to this question would be, "YES!". After all, many people have given up having a land line phone service, using cell phones exclusively. The trick is, only one phone number per address is listed in the Reverse 9-1-1 calling system.
