As the intro to this web site says, "see and be seen". One of the main reasons that criminals getting away with their efforts is because as a whole, society tends to remain inside their homes and do not interact with the world of their neighborhood. If people stepped out their front door more often to actually witness what is going on out there, either the criminals would see the residents outside and leave before they themselves are seen, or the residents would see the criminals acting suspicious and either confront them of call the police to investigate.
It is much more comfortable to sit at the back of your house and watch tv or read, but in doing so we are allowing the criminal element to take over. Right now the criminals expect nobody to see them. If things were more unpredictable, there wouldn't be so much crime. Step outside, to "see and be seen".
Don't just give away our neighborhood. They don't deserve it.
