Hickory Grove Division

Response Area 1 Community Coordinator

This is the first use of the Hickory Grove Division citizen distribution list. With this distribution we at the Hickory Grove Division will attempt to keep you all aware of import crime incidents and trends in not only your neighborhood but in also in the Hickory Grove area as a whole. More importantly we will attempt to provide safety tips that address the crime trends that we see. Our hope is that through this education process we will be able to show a reduction in crime in our area.

Safety Tips

If you are going to be out of town make sure that your neighbors know to keep and eye out for your house. If you are going to be gone more than a weeks time, make sure that you have a hold put on mail delivery and paper delivery, or arrange for someone to pick these items up for you. Many times house breakers use pilled up paper and mail as a clue that no one is home before breaking in.

AWARENESS

While out shopping be mindful of your surroundings. Often robbers will ride though shopping location parking lots looking for an “easy” target. While walking to and from your car, walk with a purpose and keep track of what is going on around you at all times. Avoid being loaded down with packages, and have your car keys at the ready prior to reaching your car. When at all possible avoid walking through the parking lot alone.
3. Finally please make the extra effort to increase your awareness in our city. As always if you see suspicious behavior, please do not hesitate to call 911 and report it. We at the police department rely on all of you to be our eyes and ears.
