?˜ It was voiced that complaints are heard of lacking handicapped parking spots. [Metzger promised to investigate core requirement.]
?˜ Lee Metzger reviewed earlier discussions about adding basketball courts to Puryear. [Two half courts could share the handball area] Quintana disapproves of adding any further concrete surfaced areas in the park. The city will continue to investigate neighborhood sharing of basketball courts with the Riviera School---May offer to add lighting at city expense. Lee urged the Edgemoor Neighborhood Association to discuss this issue and report the consensus to him.
?˜ It was urged that a decorative hedge be added to the main parking lot along Lee Street and that a more substantial curb be added.
?˜ The soccer parents attending mentioned their temporary parking restriction sign and requested additional permanent no-parking signs.
?¨ Signage could assure emergency vehicle access to the playing fields now sometimes blocked by parked cars.
?¨ The Volunteer Road Patrol has declined to ticket soccer fan parking to avoid confrontation situations.
?˜ Councilman Bill Foster expressed satisfaction with the evolution of the Puryear Park Project based on three meetings of public inputs to the plan. He noted that the soccer parents are now well represented at these workshops. Recognizing the hope for additional soccer season parking, Bill noted his ongoing discussions with the Canterbury School, seeking to arrange for shared public parking on their school lots.
?˜ Question was raised as to the hours for park lighting. Lee Metzger answered that city parks are considered closed at 11 p.m.. He mentioned that Fossil Park had decided to leave every third walkway lamppost on all night. Edgemoor can do the same.
These notes were compiled by Conrad Weiser, CONA Secretary and Past President of Edgemoor.
