MEETING NOTES EDGEMOOR NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

March 16, 2000 Faith Covenant Church 7:30 PM

Following the requested suspension of our business meeting agenda, we heard a presentation by Mr. Jim Carlson regarding the upcoming census count, explaining how important the collection of this data is to all of us.
1. The basis for public improvement plans.
2. The schedule database for our Police and EMS services.
3. The basic planning tool for all area business developments.
4. We missed 3,000 names last count reducing our government grants by $1,500 for each name, every year since!
5. The service seeks to hire 12,000 temporary canvassers to visit local delinquent responders.

The Treasurer?’s Report of our balance of $619.31 was approved.

The Minutes of our February 17th meeting were approved.

Community Police Officer Keith Glasgow gave his monthly review of neighborhood police activity.
 Several ?“Open garage door?” burglaries
 37% of stolen cars had the keys left in them.
 Canterbury School Principal has agreed to restrict driving by students who had behaved offensively.
 Tickets are now being issued for unleashed dogs.
 The Police Gang Unit is teaming with Sanitation Dept. to attack area graffiti displays.

Conrad Weiser offered his monthly report of the CONA meetings.

Traffic Committee Report- (Seeking volunteers)
We need to collect signed petitions approving our neighborhood traffic plan from the residents on Grant, Pierce, and Lee Streets.

Moved, (Hawkins), to buy a tape recorder for the benefit of our Secretary when she can?’t attend. [Approved]

Moved, (Hawkins), to limit purchase of recorder to $50.00. [Approved]

We heard a brief resume of the correspondence that had been received in our neighborhood post office box.
