Edgemoor Neighborhood Association Meeting
August 26, 2008
Meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM.
Attendees: Cameron Bernard, Richard Kirby, Conrad Weiser, Paul Kabala, Officer Parker, Bill Dudle, Kate Devine, Tom DeMint, Gail George-Coppens
This is an ?“unofficial?” meeting, due to no quorum.
The July minutes were approved
Officer Parker: (new community officer) 377times over 3 months.
Treasurer?’s report: $883.68 in the treasury and no bills are due at this time.
Correspondence: Conrad shared E-mail from the Deputy Fire Marshal from the about the Fire Prevention Block Party on October 11.
Cameron presented correspondence from the department of transportation & parking to informing us that requests for a speed hump along Lee Street, between 58th and 59th Avenues, NE have been made. We were asked to approve. The motion to approve the additions passed. A letter stating such will be sent to the city. Those individuals whose names appeared on the petition will also be contacted to ask for their support of the Edgemoor Neighborhood Association.
A Notice of Public Hearing concerning a modification to Canterbury school was shared by Cameron. While the committee was not asked to move on this review, a letter will be sent to inform the school that our committee is approving of the addition, to show good will.
Bill Dudley informed the committee that a Cell Tower is being erected west of Shore Acres Elementary and east of the dump.
Riviera Bay Association is honoring the fire department at a gathering at Fossil Park.
One way the city managed to meet the budget, in addition to not replacing the retirees, was to have sanitation consolidate its maintenance with the city?’s maintenance facility, instead of having their own.
Regarding the vacated Riviera Middle School building, Dudley said that it would be up to citizens to complain when the building begins to deteriorate. Todd Yost is the contact person for that.
Tom asked for approval from the committee for NJAA funds to be used for an enclosed informational board. The neighborhood association will also have access. Tom motioned that it be approved. It was seconded. Cameron agreed to draft the letter. These funds are already earmarked for the Jai Alai court project.
Canal committee: Dudley said that the area where the sand builds up would be dredged.
Conrad commended Cameron and Bill Dudley on completing the CONA leadership workshop.
Newsletter committee: Need a cost analysis. Dudley suggested that we contact one of the churches to hold meetings there as an opening to the newsletter and to accommodate the meeting attendees. Cameron will contact the church about meeting there.
