Did know that several of your neighbors were victims of random violence? The affected families have had their whole worlds turned upside down. What can we do?
First, ask yourself, who is your neighbor? If we get to know each other, we can watch for strangers.
Second, do you know what to do when a problem arises? This is a good time to know your neighbor.
Third, is security in knowing your home and family are safe when you are not there important to you?
All of these things can be had. Some of us have begun to take steps in this direction. We would like to have you help us help you.
How to report a crime.
All it takes is a phone call to the police. We all know about 911. It?’s a great number.
What if it?’s not an emergency? But you feel it?’s not normal. Call
207-7273.
When you call, the dispatcher needs 7 pieces of information:
1) Who, what, when, and where
2) Describe the situation/suspect
3) Vehicle description
4) Direction of travel from site
5) Say if you want to be contacted or not, you have a choice
6) Be patient with the dispatcher
7) Let the dispatcher control the conversation.
Know that there are only 2,000 police officers for all of us 1.2 million San Antonians. Let?’s help! The police are outnumbered in San Antonio. We have to help them. The police want to do their job rather than be called when it?’s too late. YOUR CALL MAY SAVE A LIFE, PREVENT AN INJURY OR STOP A CRIMINAL ACT,
What do you think? Let?’s make a difference for our children!
