Police Report: Capt. Bastista is
working on the issues raised at the Sept meeting, King's Smoke Shop, over grown
vegetation in street along Pinta that is causing issues. Officer Doug Wilfert reported that robberies
and house break-ins are up in the
neighborhood, app. one happening every 2 to 3 days within the Elvira
boundaries. Also reported on the serial
robber working on the Southside having robbed Circle K & Food City by gun
point, and advised us to keep our eyes open and call if we see anything suspicious.
Minutes approved with one change, motion made to
accept by Abel Salido and 2nd by Dorothy Neimi.
Treasurer's report-the former treasurer has not turned
over our bank account to us yet. We have
a $300.00 check from Circle K for our night out to deposit yet.
Night Out Against Crime Celebration held on Tues,
Oct 2nd report. Circle K donated $300.00
and Walmart donated $50.00. We feed
around 125 people at our very successful event.
Suggestion was made by Oscar Tortosa that next year
we get t-shirts for members to wear so we can easily be identified as ENA
members. The shirts could also be used
for other planned events such as neighborhood clean-up's, etc.
Mikki Neimi reported he obtained a listing of all the addresses within the Elvira
boundaries for mailing purposes. He will
check with the Post Office on bulk mailing rates.
By-laws meeting to be called before the next
regular meeting. Need officer forms
signed and turned into City.
Call to the Public:
Santa Clara Elementary school reported that they
will be no longer letting children cross the street from the gate, but requiring them to use the
designated crosswalks instead.
Hope Church pastor Jimmy Nelson reported that
they'll be getting their pumpkins this coming Saturday, Oct 13, 2012 the same
day they are holding their auction fund raiser.
They are hoping to get more teens involved by offering a Disney trip next year. They are holding their Trunk or Treat event
on Halloween and everyone is welcome to come and participate. Prizes offered for best costume and best
decorated vehicle.
