Elvira Neighborhood Association

Dec 10, 2012 Approved Minutes

Meeting called to order at 6:55 p.m.

Moment of silence observed.

Police Report: Police have been hitting our area
hard and robberies & burglaries have been down in our area as a result.  Most calls have been at businesses in the
area.    Police suggest educating kids on
the dangers of bath salts.  Sunnyside
School District is educating their teachers so the information can be passed
down.  Speeding on 12th Ave south of
Valencia is still an issue.  Community
involvement results in lower crime rates.
The police can't help us unless we help them.

No minutes for last month as there wasn't a quorum
and no notes were approved for Oct.

Treasurer's report- are funds are still the same as
no expenses have been paid.

Old business--Bylaws---Need more people involved in
the neighborhood meetings--Newsletter needs to have a committee, any one with
ideas to put in the newsletter?--discussed possible neighborhood clean up for
spring.

Presidents Report--David Densmore talked about the
neighborhood needing to set goals for the new year.  Scheduling a clean up; helping elderly
neighbors; the need for volunteers to assist in these areas.  Also need to explore what grants are
available for more street lights in our area.
David also reminded everyone that donations can be made to area schools
to receive a deduction on your state taxes.

Call to the Public:

        Mikki
Niemi reported that the City Council approved the Circle K store on the corner
of Valencia & Nogales Hwy by a 7-0 vote.
Circle K will need to remove underground gasoline tanks and bulldoze the
existing building.  The new store
could  be under construction next year.

Also the possibility of getting t-shirts for ENA
members to wear when working in the neighborhood was discussed.

Changing the meeting day was discussed by members
present.

Motion for meeting to adjourn made by Sam Valdovin
and 2nd by Rachel Tortosa, all members were in agreement, meeting was adjourned
