Elvira Neighborhood Association

Jan 14, 2013 Approved Minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Moment of silence observed.

Police Report: Crime is low when the weather is
cold, so stats are down right now.  Most
crime lately has been convenience stores being hit by robbers.  During the Christmas vacation, police
participated with the local schools in an active shooter training.

Motion for Oct minutes to be approved as written
was made by Oscar Tortosa and 2nd by Rachel Tortosa.

Motion for Dec minutes to be approved with one
addition was made by Abel Salcido and 2nd by Oscar Tortosa.

Treasurer's report- one check written for our Oct
Night Out expenses of $98.95 so remaining balance is around $1217.00.  Motion to accept treasurers report made by
Oscar Tortosa and 2nd by Abel Salcido.

Old business--Bylaws--- Clean Up discussed for
spring, need more volunteers, will need to check with the local high school for
volunteers, Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts, University students and the Juvenile
offenders office.

Dave will set a meeting to discuss by-law
updates.  Mikki will bring copies of the
by-laws with notes of changes already discussed by the group.

January Elections:
Abel Salcido proposed that elections be delayed until at least the March
meeting so by-law revisions could be explored first.  Oscar Tortosa 2nd the motion, all members
were in favor.

 Call to the
Public:   Eddie Islas announced Santa Clara School will
be having a Spring Festival, more information later.

Discussion continues about moving our meeting to
another night.  Dave will check with the
church to see if a different Monday night would work, perhaps the 3rd Monday of
the month instead of the 2nd as some members are not able to attend on a
regular basis due to other commitments.

Newsletter--ideals to put in the newsletter
include:  a neighborhood clean up;
services and events sponsored by Hope Church; events at Santa Clara School and
that ENA is still here along with our website information.

Mikki Niemi asked if ENA wants to pursue the stolen
money and property by Barrio Nopal.  After a group discussion a motion was made to
continue to press the stolen money but since we have little proof of the
property to let that drop with the exception of the trailer, motion made by Abel
Salcido and 2nd by Oscar Tortosa, and approved by all members.  Dave said he will talk to Tom Hand who has
the trailer on his property as to if he'll give it back to us.

Presidents Report:
Dave mentioned the Elvira signs in the former east side of the neighborhood.  Mikki said he'd follow up with the City on if
we can remove the signs ourselves or if they will move them.

Motion for meeting to adjourn made by Oscar Tortosa
and 2nd by Abel Salcido, all members were in agreement, meeting was adjourned
at 8:29 p.m.
