Elvira Neighborhood Association Meeting 3/11/13

 

 

Officers Present:  David Densmore, President

                               Mikki Niemi, Vice President; Interim Treasurer

                               Tere Filkin, Interim Secretarty; Councilperson

                                Dorothy Niemi, Historian

 

Guests Present:   Gary Wittwer, City of Tucson Transportation Dept

                                    Laura Dent, Ward 1 Representative

Call to Order:  President David Densmore called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Moment of Silence

Minutes:  Motion to accept the Feb 11, 2013 minutes as written was made by Oscar Tortosa and seconded by Abel Salcido. Motion was passed by all present.

Treasurers Report:  Treasurer Mikki Niemi reported the current balance is $1315.00. One check was written for $33.00 to file the report concerning the stolen funds in small claims court.  Motion to accept the treasurers report was made by Tere Filkin, seconded by Oscar Tortosa.  Motion was passed by all present.

Old Business:

A) By-Laws meeting will be held before next month meeting at 6:00 on April 15th. 

B) Night Out-Dave suggests we start working on our Oct Night Out plans, he will check with Brenda @ Hope Church to make sure the date is available for us to hold the Night Out at Hope Church.

C) Clean Up- is scheduled for May 4-5.  The roll off will be delivered around May 2nd and we will meet at Hope Church parking lot at 7:00 a.m. on May 4th to clean up the streets of the neighborhood.  Alleys were suggested as an area to receive particular attention.

D) Walking Path-Gary Wittwere will move forward on the fog coating for the walking path.  He
will also provide appx 4 yards of rock to use around the trees.   He will investigate how difficult it
will be to get the tile signs off the walls. Mikki volunteered a place to store the signs until new walls are built,Laura Dent from Ward One will work with Gary concerning the signs.  Martin Frausto said he had some blocks he could donate for the project.  Gary stated he may be able to water the trees on the path a time or two before summer.

E) Newsletter- Dorothy Niemi is working on the newsletter, she provided a draft copy for everyone to view and asked for comments  The newsletter needs to be ready to go to the City of Tucson Community Services Dept by mid March. 

New Business: 

A) Flood control update may be provided at the May meeting by a Pima County Flood Control representative or at a future meeting

B)City of Tucson City Manager will be the guest speaker at the April 15, 2013 ENA meeting. Topic of discussion will be the City Budget.

Call to the Audience:

A) Rachel Tortosa suggested that a pot luck be held a week after the clean up for those who participate .

B) Dorothy Niemi suggested the idea of fund raisers.

C) Complaints about pot holes on Los Reales.  Report pot holes call 791-3154 City of Tucson Street Maintenance.

D) Residents stated there's a lot of traffic in the forms of quads racing up and down alleys in the neighborhood causing a lot of dust.    Call 911, stating you are making a non-emergency call to report. Dave will also e-mail Cpt Batista concerning this issue.

No officer was available for the March meeting.

Adjournment:

Motion to adjourned was made by Abel Salcadio and seconded by Rachel Tortosa.  Motion was
passed by all present.  Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
