Elvira Neighborhood Association Meeting 5/20/13

Guest Speaker: There was no guest speaker this month.
Call to Order: President David Densmore called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.

Report: Officer Olvias wasin attendance., who reported on the shooting at the Loas Transit Center this week. Graduation parties will keep Police busy this week and to report any loud parties no matter the time of day if it's disturbing your peace. Any info given to police at our meeting is distributed at the station and to all the officers. Residents are reporting lots of whippit containers around the neighborhood again.
Minutes: Motion to accept the April 15, 2013 minutes as written was made by Dorothy Niemi and seconded by Sam Valdovin. Motion was passed by all present.
Treasurers Report: Treasurer Mikki Niemi reported the current balance is $984.15.
Old Business:
A) By-Laws committee need another meeting. Dave Densmore said he would set up at time to
meet at his house before the next meeting and would let everyone know when.
B) The Neighborhood Clean Up was a success. Having it at the same time as Bulk and Brushy seemed beneficial.
Next time we need to post the rules on the side of the roll offs.
New Business:
A) Andres Cano, Special Staff Assistant to Supervisor Richard Elias provided info on the County's budget. Property taxes are going up .24 per $100.00 of assessed value, but should be lower due to drop in property values. Money still left in the budget for this year will be spent on repairing the soccer fields near Kino Hospital. There will be a Bond meeting to discuss the neighborhood reinvestment program on May 30th at 8:00 a.m. at the Inn Suites on St Mary's Rd. Also, a Pima Co Flood Control is contacting for a study be done for ENA.
B) Laura Dent representative for Ward One reported that there is money available from the 12% Gaming Funds for some small projects for high stress areas which ENA is one. She suggested we put in for a project from the Drachmann Report compiled a few years ago.
Call to the Audience:
A) Sandra Cuen reported there is assistance available at the Valencia Library on Wed from 10:00-2:00 to help people understand the process and help for signing up for benefits and other programs including the Food Bank.
B) Suggestions were made to talk to Hope Church about renting spaces during their rummage sales to residents for a fee. Also, having a fund raiser for funds for the ENA.
C) Supervisor Richard Elisa was suggested as a guest speaker for the June meeting. Andres Cano will let Dave know if that can be worked out.
D) The need to work with the County and City to re-spark interest in finding funding for streetlights, sidewalks and speed bumps in our neighborhood was discussed. Also, if any arts projects are available from the Pima Arts Commission.

Motion to adjourned was made by Dorothy Niemi and seconded by Kellianne Candelaria. Motion was passed by all present. Meeting was adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
