Old Business:
A) Mikki Niemi announced he would like to use some of the grant money from Walmart to pay for Robo-calls. His number would show on the caller ID and he would record a short message for use. Mikki asked the Council to approve the cost; Dave will schedule a Council meeting at a later date to discuss since the cost is over the limit per By-Laws...
B) Mikki Niemi announced that he has been applying for various grants for playground equip, tables, etc. The lots on Pinta may be a location for a pocket park, Mikki has contacted ADOT about those the use of those lots for a park. If a place for a park cannot be found any grants obtained for park equipment may be able to be used along the walking path or at the school.
C) T-shirts to identify volunteers as Elvira Neighborhood Assoc. members. There is a flat fee for the design and they would cost approximately $10-$12 each. Design was discussed, Dave to verify exact cost of the proposed design. Suggestion was made that we would like to have the t-shirts in time for the Night Out in Oct. The idea of the neighborhood paying for these t-shirts was also brought up, and that anyone who receives a t-shirt earns it by volunteering when needed for various functions such as clean ups, Night Out, etc.
New Business:
A) Priscilla Terrain from NextDoor.com was the guest speaker. She discussed the uses of the web site and how other neighborhoods are using it. They can print flyers for community events, and Tucson Police will soon be a part of the web site. We discussed the need to get more neighbors signed up; posting flyers was suggested. A suggestion was also made to post our meeting agenda to NextDoor.com prior to our meetings.
Call to the Audience Call:
A) A neighborhood resident voiced a complaint that the Police are being called over his parking of his semi-truck in the neighborhood. Even though he knows City code does not allow semi-trucks in the neighborhood, the resident thought an exception should be made for him.
B) A discussion was held on what are the laws concerning semi-trucks in the neighborhood; such things as safety and damage to roads in the neighborhood were brought up. Residents would like to know more info on the law concerning semi-trucks.
Adjournment: Motion to adjourn was made by Oscar Tortosa and seconded by Sam Valdovin. Motion was passed by all present. Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
