ENGLISH TURN CIVIC IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER-JANUARY 2004
Message From The President
We have had an exciting year in the Lower Coast!
Many good things were accomplished and many are still in the works but I think you?’ll agree, we?’ve certainly got the ball rolling.
I have met with Rep. Jim Tucker, Councilperson Clarkson and Mayor Ray Nagin about the possibility of getting a TIF on the new construction in our area to be dedicated to our infrastructure. Our streets and drainage problems are massive and we are definitely going to need some money back from the taxes we pay in order to repair and replace our badly damaged roads. I have also been in touch with the Dept. of Public Works and they have given me a promise to start work on the roads in the near future. The Sewerage and Water Board have been active in our area also and I will continue to work with them in the coming year on the drainage problems in our area.
We have been working with City officials to install a playground on Hwy. 406. There are many children in this area and they need a safe place to play.
Clean up day was a great success! We reached areas that had never been cleaned before and had more participation than in any years past. We were grateful for all the help from the Buddhist Temple, the English Turn Property Owners Association, the residents of 406, and all of the other residents of Lower Coast that turned out to help. It was great to see all of these groups working together to help to keep our area beautiful. Congratulations to you all for a job well done.
We are here to help so if you have a problem you think we can help you with please call us. We will be going into much more depth on these issues at our next meeting and I hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Frances Sewell
President E.T.C.I.A.
