Announcements:
Our next General Membership Meeting will be held at the Buddhist Temple, Hwy. 406, Tuesday, Aug. 10th, 2004 at 7 p.m. Jim Tucker has accepted the invitation to come to our meeting so that we can all thank him for his wonderful contribution toward the beautification of highway 406.
The new 4th District Police Captain, Louis Dabdoub, will be on hand to discuss his plans for getting criminal activity under control in Algiers. This is the man who had zero murders in the French Quarter while he was Captain there. Come and help us welcome him to the community.
Entergy has recently done a serious clearing of the trees on the sides of our roads. To many, this seemed extreme. They have never cut this far into the woods before. We are inviting them to explain why it was necessary.
We?’re sure you have received the letter from Lucianne and Joe Carmichael explaining their plans to go before the City Planning Commission for a Text Amendment to the Zoning Law. The official hearing on this matter will be August 10th at 1:30 p.m. in City Hall. This is a public meeting so if you would like to express your opinion on this matter please either do so there or call Frances Sewell if you have any questions or cannot make the meeting but
would like to send a letter. We will be having a full discussion on this matter the night of our meeting.
We will also hand out and then discuss some literature on the Woodlands Trail and Park Project. This is a very large project and, in our opinion, it will greatly effect our area.
We are still making all efforts to get our deplorable roads fixed. If you have any comments or suggestions please let us know at the meeting. We will be letting you know the results of our efforts then.
Hwy. 406 Beautification
The landscaping has been done and we have begun a regularly scheduled grass cutting on our neutral ground. It needs to be watered very frequently so we are looking for suggestions on how to keep it well watered If anyone knows of a watering service please let us know.
We will be having a wildflower class on Sept. 11th . It is still in the planning stages but we are inviting master gardeners from the LSU Ag center who will be teaching about wildflowers, trees, fruit trees etc. We will be sending out notices as it gets closer.
Be a good neighbor and please slow down on our dirt roads. The dust really kicks up and people working in their yards get covered with it.
