Make copies of credit card numbers and the toll-free numbers from the back of your cards. If your cards are stolen, cancel them immediately.
If your name or Social Security number are stolen, call the three national credit bureaus to place a fraud alert on your name. This way, creditors know your information was stolen and must contact you before extending possibly fraudulent credit. The three agencies are:
