Joel and Winni Christopherson recently opened Parkway Hardware at 4748 Chicago Ave. S. Their business is sure to be a welcome addition to the corner and to our neighborhood. It will eventually provide a variety of services and products including key cutting, lock rekeying, window/screen repair, and pipe cutting and threading as the Christophersons get more established.

In addition, the Turtle Bread Company is hoping to renovate the space at the corner into a multi-use retail and production facility. The new Turtle Bread will feature an international grocery with a cafe and deli, production spaces, a Neapolitan-style brick-oven pizza restaurant, a walk-up sandwich shop, and a gourmet Mediterranean restaurant. If all goes as planned, the firm plans to begin construction in July, and will open its doors in the fall of 2002.
