Five Points Neighborhood Assoc.

Highlights of the June Meeting

Jun 07, 2004

After the initial welcome and introductions, Mary G. DeHoyos stood and gave her resignation as President of the neighborhood association. This move was made in hopes of being able to move forward and focus all of our energies on the needs of this communities rather than on past events. She will continue to come to meetings and is working on the Housing, Environment and Planning Committee with Laura Sanguino and Brother Charles. In accordance with the by-laws, Laura Sanguino will be president until the end of the year. Congratulations to Maria T. Gomez for being appointed vice president for the remainder of the year.
Councilman Roger Flores was present at the meeting to address the residents of Five Points. He stated his willingness to help us better our neighborhood. He encouraged us to work together and develope a more focused plan for our neighborhood and indicated he is willing to help us achieve our goals. There was a question and answer session afterwards.
We also talked about the upcoming N. Flores Beautification Project. The next public meeting will be held at M. K. Davis at 4pm on 6/15. Please let us know if you will be attending as we need to get a count. The councilman expressed his support of this project as well. There will be brief presentations from various speakers and we hope to get some input from the residents and business owners as well.
All are welcome to attend.
The next neighborhood association meeting is scheduled for July 6, 2004 at 7pm at Villa Tranchese Apartments.
