2002 Block Party a Hit!

Thanks to the hard work of many neighborhood volunteers, the 2002 summer block party was an outstanding success.

This year?’s event included a multitude of activities for the young and the young at heart including a watermelon eating contest and all the snow cones one could eat.

All the children loved the performance by Whiskers the Clown and many enjoyed getting a flower or favorite character painted on their face by Catherine Rose. Both the police and fire departments dropped by and the children had a great time climbing on the fire truck and sounding the sirens.

We had a number of distinguished visitors including Mayor Bill LaFortune, City Councilor Susan Neal, County Commissioner Randy Miller and Florence Park South?’s greatest ally, Erin Patrick Director of the Mayors Office of Neighborhoods.
And special thanks to certified massage therapist Derek Jones who provided a glorious massage to put the finishing touch on a picture perfect day!
