Forest Oaks Civic Club

Homeland Security

Sep 04, 2005

At the civic meeting on July 21st our guest speakers Sgt. Chomac and Officer J. L. Martinez. Their topic was on Homeland Security. Potential threats of terrorist attacks are very real and all Americans should begin the process of learning to be better prepared to react during an attack, a natural disaster or any other emergency. Neighbor?’s we need to be the eyes and ears of the Police Department and be aware of our surroundings and report any suspicious activity however unimportant we might consider it. It is reasonable to prepare for a terrorist attack in the same manner as a natural disaster. Prepare a kit to last at least three days to include food, water, medicines, battery powered radio, flashlight, first aid kit, etc. We were given some handouts, if anybody wants a copy, feel free to contact one of the civic officers.
