On Oct 22, 2002, Mayor John Delaney presented a trophy to the residents and members of Ft Caroline Club Estates South. The presentation took place at the Mayor's Neighborhood Summit at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. The award was for "Neighborhood of the Year." Over the past year, the residents/members had built an entrance sign, cleaned up many roadways, cleaned up parks, planted trees, installed Neighborhood Watch signs, and enforced the City's Codes and Ordinances. The neighborhood and community had greatly revitalized itself and property values had risen. The former "declining and aging" neigbborhood had turned itself around and become one of the prime leaders of the City for pride, beauty, property values, and civic endeavors.
